Mental Dimensions Endorses Mary Rossing for Northfield Mayor
By Andy Alt / Political Dimensions
Aug 17, 2008 – It’s campaign season and many national, state, and local candidates have been scrambling to get my endorsement. Others are just as hastily in the process of rejecting my endorsements. Today, Mental Dimensions is endorsing Mary Rossing for mayor of Northfield.
Mary, I believe, has a healthy mind and will be a capable mayor. Having a healthy mind is a quality I look for in a mayor. I won’t give mental illness a bad time — a sick mind is often an equally important quality, but I’d rather it be the health condition of a writer or some other type of artist.
Mary’s only problem is that she has her own web site (http://www.maryrossing.com/) which shows a streak of narcissism, but I find that endearing because I too have my own web site. I decided not to name my site after me, however, the result is the same. Narcissism isn’t always a negative quality anyway — I find it shows a high degree of self-confidence, an important character trait for a mayor. If, on the other hand, Mary ever has a baby and names it after herself, I’d be quite troubled and a little perplexed.
Vote for Mary Rossing in the September 9th Primary so I can get my transit wish. Brendon Etter did not show at today’s open house so I now have many doubts about the viability of his candidacy, and doubts as to his existence. It wouldn’t be the first time a political write-in candidate sprouted up as a figment of my imagination and I’m sure it won’t be the last.
I haven’t yet given up hope that Bugs Bunny will throw his hat into the ring, but being the sensible person she is, I’m sure Mary would understand if I swiftly and secretively switched my support at the very last minute.
Mary sounds like a mind-healthy choice. I’d vote for her. While I was reading this I’m not quite sure why I was thinking of Benjamin Franklin, author of “Poor Richard’s Almanac.” I bought a copy 5 years ago and still have it. I wonder what that means.
Thanks for all your recent comments. I’m sorry I haven’t been around much to reply to them.
This is what I attended yesterday, and where I and a few others spoke with Mary Rossing, and also Jon Denison, about transportation:

As for Ben Franklin and the Almanac, there’s mention of him in http://mentaldimensions.wordpress.com/2005/08/17/confusing-legal-technicalities/

Two days ago I created this site, Political Dimensions, and imported many of the politically-oriented posts from my other site, Mental Dimensions. I’m keeping the title and references to Mental Dimensions unaltered due to the mental nature of the article, but leaving this explanation as a comment.
